THE CRITERION DYNASTY
In the course of history, there have been a rare handful of stallions whose life force was powerful enough to make an enduring impression on the people who knew them – an impression so powerful, their memory and their bloodline would be coveted and handed down through generations. Criterion was such a horse. He epitomized the character of the Morgan breed – the type of Justin Morgan, his famous son Sherman, the celebrated Daniel Lambert, and the beautiful Jubilee King, ancestors of his direct sireline, all in one – but much more than that, Criterion created something of his own. Fittingly named, he was the standard, the criterion of excellence by which the Hanleys of The Quietude Stud in West Virginia have measured their Lambert breeding program. The blood of Criterion has withstood the test of time with the Lambert program enduring more than 50 years and having produced more than 300 clean-blooded Lambert descendants of Criterion at the Quietude Stud alone. Numerous breeders across the country have seen and appreciated this pure bloodline which has a special place in Morgan history, and have established Lambert breeding programs of their own, all based on the blood of Criterion, so this genetic treasure of Quietude will endure for years to come.
